Jiedi Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Jiedi Township, 35 km north of Zhongdian County (now called "Shangri-La" County), Yunnan. It was named by the third area survey team of the Sichuan Geological Bureau in 1974.

Lithology and Thickness
It is mainly characterized by the limestone. Lower part is purple red, yellow green thin layers of mudstone, silty mudstone and argillaceous limestone. Middle and Upper part, there are gray medium thick layers-massive limestone, dolomitic limestone, oolitic limestone, argillaceous limestone and calcareous mudstone. The thickness is 1295-1913 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The purplish red and yellowish green argillaceous limestone and the purplish red clastic rock of the underlying Fubulun Fm (Bulum Fm in this Lexicon usage) are conformable at the bottom.
Upper contact
It is disconformable in contact to the conglomerate in the overlying Wangchika Fm
Regional extent
The formation is widely distributed in Zhongdian County small Zhongdian, soil official village and Tian Baoshan area, Yunnan Province. The Niru Fm is coeval limestone but with a lower tuff in the same Zhongdian County.

Fossils
The fossils are mainly bivalves, as well as ammonoids, brachiopods and gastropods. Bivalves: Costatoria cf. goldfussi, Eumorphotis illyrica, Entolium discites. Ammonoid: Protrachyceras sp.

Depositional setting
It is interpreted as shallow water environment.
